For the best possible color match and fit, the custom eye is unparalleled. This type of eye is manufactured step by step with each detail designed to match the companion eye.
An accurate impression of the socket is taken using a soft alginate material. This impression fitting gives optimum comfort and appearance.
The iris is hand painted to match all the fine details of the companion iris. As many as twenty coats of paint may be necessary to create all the color striations found in the human iris.
On the white surface of the eye are cemented tiny red silk threads which will simulate the vein pattern in your retained eye. Sclera tones of pink, gray, blue and yellow are added as needed.
The final work consists of covering the eye entirely with a thin layer of clear plastic which smoothly seals the veins and gives the appearance of the corneal dome found on the human eye. The prosthesis is then polished to a smooth finish and the final fitting is completed.
